Many parents do not want their teenager behind the wheel of the family car, especially without affordable auto insurance. Their reasons are justified; the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that accidents are four times more likely to happen with drivers between the ages 16 to 19. Having affordable car insurance seems near impossible.

In fact, car insurance for teenagers has the highest insurance rates available. Some teenagers are capable of driving safely, but the majority of them lack inexperience and can be easily distracted.

1. Shop Around

2. Get your teenager to join your policy
