What is a good website to compare auto insurance rates?

   Any of the ones you hear about will do. I have an alternate suggestion. Call Liberty Mutual, find out which credit unions they have agreements with to offer insurance to their members to, and go join one of them. It is very good insurance, you save about 10% by being a member of the credit union, and it is the lowest game in town. I pay $458 per year, not every six month, but per year to insure my 1998 Nissan p/u truck. Nobody can beat that in the common civilian market. At least I haven't found anyone that can.

   From my experience, and I have been with the same one for 25 years, staying with the same place and agent will help your rates immensely. I tried the Geico and Progressive quotes and they couldn't come close to what I am paying. Actually they were almost twice as high!! So I would say, start with State Farm and go from there..
